Quality Interactions: Overview of the role of the adult, including Shared Thinking strategies
Course Description:
A snapshot of the full day course, below, to help teachers to refresh their memories and build strong foundations onto which they can hone skills and knowledge.
Join us for this twilight online course led by Rachel Jacobs of Leading Children.
Based on the work of Marion Dowling’s/The EPPE Project’s, ‘Sustained Shared Thinking’, this training course by Leading Children will focus on the adult role, including the use of irresistible and provoking activities for generating talk.
High quality interactions are central to effective early years practice, ensuring all children make progress, and in order for interactions to be successful, we need skilled adults. We will endeavour to demonstrate how engaging in effective conversations during child-initiated activities helps children absorb new vocabulary, expand their knowledge as well as extend their thinking.
Developing children’s thinking, reasoning, information processing, evaluative and imaginative thinking skills is largely reliant on the quality of deliberate questioning and strategising, as adults converse with them.
